Miller CAT's Steps Towards Increased Sustainability
As a company that designs and manufactures shields to protect catalytic converters from theft, Miller CAT is dedicated to doing our part to reduce our environmental impact through various measures. This includes using innovative technology, recycling the metal scraps generated during the production process of our aluminum and stainless steel Cat Shields, and minimizing our shipping material waste. As our company has grown over the years, we’ve been committed to bringing all aspects of manufacturing in-house, which gives us better control over the production process and also enables us to implement sustainable practices wherever possible. By taking these steps, we want to not only reduce waste but also help conserve natural resources and reduce energy consumption.
Innovative Technology
At Miller CAT, we’re proud to use the Amada EML 2515 AJ, which is one of the most sophisticated and powerful punch laser combo machines in the world. This machine allows us to create complex 2D and 3D features on our shields with high precision and efficiency. The punch laser combo technology allows us to use less energy and gas compared to traditional laser cutting methods. Read more about our state-of-the-art manufacturing process here.
Recycling Metal Scraps
We have also implemented a robust recycling program that enables us to recycle almost all of the metal scraps left over from our production process. This includes aluminum and stainless steel scraps, which can be melted down and transformed into new products. This reduces the amount of waste that would otherwise end up in landfills, and also conserves the natural resources that would have been used to produce new metals. Recycling metal requires much less energy than producing new metals from scratch. The EPA estimates that aluminum can be recycled using less than 5 percent of the energy used to make the original product. They also estimate that one ton of recycled steel saves the energy equivalent of 3.6 barrels of oil and 1.49 tons of iron ore over the production of new steel.
Repurposing Old Boxes
Lastly, we repurpose old boxes as packing filler. When we receive shipments at our warehouse, we save the boxes and crush them down into small pieces. We then use these pieces as a sustainable alternative to plastic or foam packing materials. Not only does this help reduce waste and decrease our carbon footprint, but it also allows us to save money on packaging materials. By incorporating sustainable practices like this into our daily operations, we're committed to doing our part to protect the planet and create a more sustainable future for all.
Control over the entire manufacturing process gives us the opportunity to be mindful of our carbon footprint as a company. We invite you to be a part of this sustainability effort by reaching out to us if you’re unsure about the correct Cat Shield™ to purchase. Our team of customer service representatives are available to answer any questions and help you order the correct product for your vehicle. By working together, we can minimize the carbon footprint of our shipments.
At Miller CAT, we believe that our commitment to sustainability is not just a responsibility, but also an opportunity to make a positive impact on the environment and society. By working together, we can create a better future for our planet and future generations.
